Brain in Claude Code, in three steps

The open source fairmind-coding plugin runs on its own on any repository. Connected to a FairMind workspace, agents read Brain before they act and record what they learn as proposals.

MIT licence · for Claude Code

What you need

  • Claude Code

The plugin installs from the Claude Code plugin marketplace.

  • python3 3.9 or newer, git and bash

Enough for standalone mode. The python3 that ships with macOS is fine.

  • jq

Needed once the repository holds a FairMind workspace: without it, some hooks block writes.

  • A FairMind workspace

Only for connected mode with Brain.

Three steps

  1. Install the plugin

Inside a Claude Code session, add the marketplace and install the plugin.

    Claude Code
    /plugin marketplace add FairMind-Gen-AI-Studio/fairmind-plugins-public
    /plugin install fairmind-coding@fairmind-plugins
  2. Check it is there

Two commands to see the new agents and commands.

    Claude Code
    /agents

Technical Lead / Architect, Software Engineer, Code Reviewer, QA Engineer, Debugging Specialist, Security Engineer.

    /help

    The /fairmind-loop, /harness-audit, /fix-issue and /gh-* commands.

  3. Connect Brainoptional

Switches the plugin to connected mode and checks that the connection works. Needs a FairMind workspace.

    Claude Code
    /fairmind-connect

On its own or connected to Brain

One plugin, two ways of working. When Brain is not there, agents read the local files and carry on.

Standalone mode

On any repository, with no MCP server.

  • /fairmind-loopTakes a task to completion in a loop, with a checkable stop condition.
  • /fairmind-developImplements a story with the agent team; a person confirms the order.
  • /harness-auditScores the repository against the loop readiness criteria.
  • /gh-review-prStructured pull request review.

Connected mode

With the FairMind MCP server, agents work on Brain.

  • brain-record-decisionRecords a decision taken in the session, after checking whether Brain already holds one.
  • brain-new-requirementTurns an idea into requirements after checking for precedents, retired ones included.
  • brain-rebuild-requirementsRecovers the requirements of an existing system, each with its code anchor.
  • brain-add-documentFiles a document Brain can cite.

What they write enters as a proposal. A person on the team confirms it in Brain Studio.

What leaves your machine

In standalone mode the plugin works on local files. In connected mode some data goes to FairMind: the README lists every route, what it carries and how to switch it off.

Bring it to your team

Connecting your team to Brain needs a FairMind workspace. We can talk it through in 30 minutes, on a case from your team.
